Jesus the Ultimate Gift

In his letter to the church in Corinth, the Apostle Paul calls Jesus God's "indescribable gift"
(2 Corinthians 9:15).

For a limited time, we are offering you our new release, Jesus the Ultimate Gift, by Lance Wubbels. In the midst of life's busyness, appreciate anew God's humble yet profound expression of love through His Son. God became one of us...as a baby boy with a tiny smile and two ears and ten fingers and ten toes. He alone is the only gift everyone really needs—Jesus, our Savior. Be inspired as you are reminded of the vastness of His love for you and the greatness of His sacrifice.

Today I'd like to share an excerpt from Jesus the Ultimate Gift.

From Jesus The Ultimate Gift
by Lance Wubbels

Salvation started with the birth of the Christ Child in a manger in Bethlehem, but it ended with the death of the man Jesus Christ on a cross just outside of Jerusalem. Salvation started with angels singing "glory to God in the highest," but it ended when a Roman centurion and those who were guarding Jesus exclaimed, "surely he was the Son of God!" Salvation started with promise in the Garden of Eden that the offspring of the woman would "crush" the serpent's head, but the serpent would strike his heel. Salvation ended with Isaiah telling us that "he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."

Can anyone describe what it cost God the Father to send His Son to save us? Can you begin to even remotely imagine how much God loved us to send His one and only Son to earth, knowing it would cost Jesus His life so we could have eternal life? Who can tell what the Father felt when His dear Son entered a world that was determined to kill Him...from His birth? To be despised, spit upon, mistreated, hung up like a thief, and made to bear infinite agony for our sins—what was that like for the Father?

Or can you imagine how much Jesus loved us to be willing to come and ultimately die on the cross so that we could have access to eternal life? Indescribable were Christ's sufferings when He was made sin for us...when He cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" God placed all of our sins on the shoulders of His Son. Jesus drank the full cup of divine punishment that should have been ours—He paid it all. God agreed that all of our sins would be forgiven by the death of that one perfect man if we would only put our faith in Him and agree to make Him the Lord of our lives.

Who can declare the greatness of His sacrifice? Think of the glory of the eternal Christ at the Father's right hand, and remember that all this was laid aside in His descent to becoming a man. Consider His infinite perfections and the shameful contempt that was poured out upon Him. Every step of His way was full of love and wonders. We have seen that His becoming one with us as a man is a miracle beyond our reasoning, but even more so is His substitution, His taking our place.

"He breathed our air, felt our pain, knew our sorrows, and died for our sins." -Charles Swindoll
